Today my star multi-talented producer & editor Anna, just recived the new score of our fantastic composer Alex Baranowski. Anna sent me the track along with the finished version film and it is AMAZING! Alex has taken the feel of the film and added another element to it, going in a new direction which I would never of thought of :D stayed tuned into our facebook and twitter pages for updates.

I Like Music Videos

Firstly a music video or "pop promo" is an ART FORM in itself, it is not just images that are edited and go along with the song’s beat and lyrics, (although these are traits of a promo). The music video goes beyond this; they play with images, functions and sometimes more than often enough inspire young film makers. I’ve been an avid fan of music video since college, having Michel Gondry’s and Spike Jonze’s work be a main influence within my own music videos in the past. Anyway here is a few music videos which I think are worth watching and why.

Moray McLaren- We Got Time.

Newcomer director; David Wilson is a creative GENUIS! His background in Illustration and graphic design gives a fresh approach to music video production. Wilson uses camera trickery to create an illusion of the moving image within the video; crossing over animation styles into the live action. Manipulation of the image through certain animation techniques is a visual style of Wilson’s, which creates a unique and individual music video, his other promos are worth a watch and I’m looking forward to seeing what Wilson comes up with next!
I love this video for many reason’s; firstly Oli Rothwell’s performance!!! The use of stop frame animation, the charm this technique has works to great effect within the video. This video as a whole is a colourful quirky and simple homage to Wes Anderson’s Life Aquatic. I don’t know much about the people behind this video; Duck Duck Moose and Sons, but if they keep producing nice little simple promos like this, then I think they’ll be on the way to the Music Video Awards.

OK Go - This Too Shall Pass
(Live Version)

OK Go are famed for their videos, well tredmill dancing has nothing on this. The video will have you watching it over and over again, trying to figure out how they did it! Alot of time and effort and creativity has been poured into this video and it shows. OK Go's over video for This Too Shall Pass, is a Honda "Cogs" inspired piece, sticking with the all one shot approach following a chain reaction of items; amazing!!!

LCD Soundsystem - Drunk Girls

Drunk Girls, can only be described as the "happy slap" music video, watch how the members of LCD are attacked by derranged pandas. The video is co-directed by Spike Jonze, who was director behind Chemical Brothers Weapon of Choice and other creative and unusal promos. You'll be more familar with Jonze's serreal films; Being John Malkovich and Where the Wild Things are. For a taste of Jonze's creative madness, watch his recent short I'm Here.

Blur - Coffee & TV

The world of music promo would be a very different place without the creative duo that is Hammer and Tongs! Armed with creativity and a lo-fi approach, Director Garth Jennings and Producer Nick Goldsmith, have conquered the promo world with their simple creative and quirky videos!

Overall I think this video pretty slick and funny to watch :)
I just like it....

Ok well that is just a few music videos that I like, I hope you've watched and enjoyed. Try and find new music videos, don't just be like; "oooh yeah, I like this video because it's my favourite band or song". Watch a video and appreciate it for the craft behind it; for example the video's concept, does it stand out from others with it's originality. Overall I feel a music video lets the director hone their skills; the promo is playground where a director can experiment with film formats, narrative devices and even develop their visual signature. When I grow up, I want to be a promo director.
